Bio:
The masked voice of Sul’voth.
Ualthum (They/Them) is a masked artist working with their created language of Sul’voth.
Graduating from OCAD University in 2018, this Toronto based artist has been dedicated to the exploration of linguistics and occult symbolism within their work. This arcane tongue and its runic letters blend together a professional artistic practice and their personal spiritual practice. Ualthum’s imagery stems from the crossroads of arcane symbols, ritualistic practices, and visualizations of meditation. Carefully translated inscriptions line the ritualistic sigils they create, while sculptural and performative work questions what it means to communicate through art, and what can be considered sacred in the contemporary age. Their work brings often private and secluded practices to a visual forum, inviting others into the hallowed halls and providing educational resources to understand the magical tongue present within their world.
